As the deadline for REAL ID implementation is approaching, we would like to provide you with information regarding “REAL ID” as it relates to air travel and the acceptable forms of identification that will be required for domestic air travel.
Deadlines for Enforcement and Compliance of REAL ID:
January 22, 2018: U.S. travelers who have driver’s licenses issued by New York, Michigan or Louisiana will need to show an alternative form of acceptable identification for domestic air travel. The most common alternative form of ID is a passport or passport card. For a full list of acceptable forms of identification, and up to date information on whether your state is compliant or has received an extension, visit www.TSA.gov
IMPORTANT – If you are traveling via air and your ID was issued in New York, Michigan or Louisiana and your state has not yet received an extension for REAL ID compliance, we recommend you apply for a passport or passport card now. If your state has recently implemented REAL ID, you may need to update your ID to the new format. Failure to obtain the proper ID for air travel may result in you being denied access to travel by airport TSA personnel.
Sincerely,
